Writing Retreat

Do you or your research group struggle to find time to write?
Could you be better at motivating each other?
Would you like tools to be more productive and happy writers?

WE DEVELOP AND ORGANIZE WRITING RESIDENCIES AND WORKSHOPS FOR RESEARCH GROUPS AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENTS

Aims:

You will get your writing done at the retreat and develop good writing habits. We create a supportive and motivational environment – at a distraction-free and pleasant location. We have several locations we can recommend.

You'll be introduced to tools, processes and writing techniques to help you become more productive. And you'll have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss the challenges and joys of writing with other researchers.

You will leave the retreat with motivation to write and new writing habits you can use in your daily work.

Content:

We recommend running a structured retreat, typically run over two or three days. A structured retreat comprises a programme of dedicated writing sessions, goal-setting sessions, feedback, and presentations on tips and tools for keeping motivation and writing effectively. We also include walk & talks for reflection and can incorporate yoga sessions and social events.

We use ‘social writing’ – which entails participants sitting together in the same room for writing sessions (a proven method of increasing motivation and productivity). We can also include the opportunity to write in solitude.

Our retreat facilitators are experienced editors of research manuscripts, teachers of academic writing, and coaches. Our retreats can also include workshops on peer reviews and rebuttals, feedback or rhetorical tools for scientific communicators. We also offer sparring and advice on your writing and writing processes throughout the retreat.

WE TAILOR THE RETREAT TO THE NEEDS OF YOUR GROUP – WE HAVE PREVIOUSLY RUN WORKSHOPS ON PEER REVIEW AND REBUTTALS, GIVING FEEDBACK, AND JOURNAL WRITING STYLE.

What can you expect from a writing residency?

I had a very productive time, learned about writing, and enjoyed the social aspects of this retreat as well. It was well structured without being overloaded, and, thus, leaving sufficient time for deep work. It could be a good idea to have something like this as a regular event, i.e., annually.

I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful writing retreat! I heard people saying only good things and the same goes for me. I learned a lot AND got some writing done which is just perfect. It was such a pleasure having you with us for the last days.

After several years all we can say is that your courses are still a resounding success, and I can add that it is with great satisfaction that I see how the course participants use what they have learned and become much better at writing articles.

I could go on and on ....

I recently attended a series of intensive 1-1 coaching sessions at GlobalDenmark in order to strengthen my negotiation and presentation skills in English.

It was a highly rewarding experience and I strongly recommend GlobalDenmark for personal and professional development.

Thanks again for an effective presentation workshop.

Last week I attended a CBS workshop where we pitched our PhD project to a panel of judges and I won the award for best pitch.

So thanks a lot, for the powerful tools and for getting me to reflect on the keys of presenting.
